Video: Brilliant clip shows reported Celtic target Mohanad Jeahze's fine crossing ability

Perhaps the most interesting story doing the rounds today is that of the club’s reported interest in Hammarby’s Mohanad Jeahze.

The Scottish Sun has linked the attack-minded left-back with the Hoops. They claim that Ange Postecoglou wants a new defender in and that Celtic are eyeing up a £2m move for the player.

And for supporters wanting to see a clip of what Jeahze is about in a forward sense, you can see a fine compilation of his crossing range below. Discovery Sport in Sweden produced a video back in December of the player’s goals and assist during the 2021 Allsvenskan campaign, and he certainly looked a handful:

One thing that’s extremely noticeable about Jeahze’s assists is that he’s gotten plenty of joy with his low crosses into the box. This is something Ange appears to love his full-backs doing when they get into dangerous areas.

In addition to that, Jeahze isn’t afraid to get the ball in early instead of simply hitting the byline all the time. Josip Juranovic and Greg Taylor are both similar in that respect, and we see in the video above how profitable it can be.

Jeahze has carried his 2021 form into the 2022 campaign, with 5 assists 13 games. Several of which have come from impressive corner-kick deliveries.

Mohanad Jeahze looks like a player with an end product

Jeahze certainly looks like a player with a fine left foot on him. Whether it be his corner-kick taking, early crosses, or low balls across the face of goal – he appears to have a fine range to his crossing.

Of course, Celtic supporters would love to see a bit more of how he is with his one-v-one defending. We also have to hope that Jeahze would fit into Ange Postecoglou’s system. Would he, for example, be comfortable operating as an inverted full-back?

These are all things Ange would of course need to judge for himself. If Celtic were to move for the Hammarby star, the manager would definitely have the trust of the supporters.

It’ll be interesting to see whether we move for a player who would be an upgrade on Taylor or simply one of similar quality in a bid to provide competition. You do feel this Celtic side still needs to evolve at left-back. Especially if we want to compete at Champions League level.

Jeahze doesn’t have any experience in his career of European football proper. Outside of Europa League and Europa Conference League qualifiers, he hasn’t been given the opportunity to taste the European stage.

We’ll keep you updated on this one throughout the summer. But if we do snap up the Iraqi international, it looks as though we have a fine crosser of the ball on our hands.
