Benjamin Nygren will become a Celtic player this summer.
Fabrizio Romano’s Celtic update last week announced that Nygren will sign a four-year deal at Parkhead with an option of a further year at the end of season 2028/29.
The ‘Here we go!’ announcement had Celtic fans excited and many must have thought an official statement by the club confirming the news would be imminent.
However, as yet, Benjamin Nygren is not officially a Celtic player yet but it appears that the announcement is not too far away.

Benjamin Nygren to be ‘announced’ by Celtic after the 1st of July
The Swedish winger has been the hot topic of conversation over the last two weeks amongst the Celtic supporters and here, journalist Roger Hannah has shared the date the Parkhead club ‘will’ announce Nygren as a Bhoy.
Hannah told Superscoreboard [12m 45s], “Well, Nygren, really, really flexible player. He can play wide, he can play up top, he can sort of play in behind if you like.
“Talk of Celtic viewing him, just a little bit deeper, maybe playing as one of that midfield three. Comes with a really good reputation.
“Not a big transfer fee because his contract’s down to the last six months from Nordsjælland, I think the lad’s been away in Holland.
“My understanding is Andrew, everything’s more or less done. He’s coming in on a four year contract and it will be announced possibly after the 1st of July.”
When Benjamin Nygren can make his Celtic debut
Celtic’s pre-season schedule is packed with plenty of fixtures for fans to get their teeth into.
First up for Brendan Rodgers’ side is Celtic’s friendly against Queen’s Park on the 4th of July at Lesser Hampden.
Nygren may well don the green and white Hoops on that day but if he is to be announced after the 1st of July, then it is likely it will be in Celtic’s second summer friendly.
Celtic will face Cork City in the Cork Super Cup tournament at the GAA’s SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on the 8th of July. It seems probable that this will be the date Nygren makes his debut.
Then, of course, attention turns towards when Nygren will step out onto the Celtic Park turf for the first time.
Celtic face Eddie Howe’s Newcastle on Saturday, July 19, 2025 and the Swede could make his home debut then.
