Amid the heat of losing to Hearts on Saturday, the only Celtic player who could probably hold his head high is Callum McGregor.
The 30-year-old is Mr Reliable for Brendan Rodgers in the middle of the park, but Neil Lennon wants to see a change.
The former Celtic boss has expressed a desire for the powers that be to sign a number six with a ‘physical presence’, as he told PLZ Soccer.
As a result, he then wants Callum McGregor to have more freedom to play further forward because he doesn’t think he’s great as a number six.
Many areas of the pitch can be taken to the next level via the January transfer window.
And given the recent performances and results, you would think things have probably exaggerated a fair bit.
But, for Neil Lennon, he was pretty clear about what needs to happen during the winter transfer window.
Callum McGregor’s role at Celtic
“A number six and a number nine,” responded Lennon about who he would buy in January.
“Let McGregor play further forward. The game on Wednesday, when Iwata started and Callum was playing the number eight role. They started off the game really well. They gave Callum that licence to dictate the game further up the pitch.
“Then Iwata had to come off and Callum had to drop into the number six position, just the momentum stopped. Feyenoord started creating chances.
“I don’t think he is a great number six. He is far better playing that 6/8 role. Going in and scoring goals. For me, a physical presence in midfield is a must.”

Crucial January transfer window
Well, before the unbeaten run could be ended by Kilmarnock, there was talk of the Celtic squad needing more quality.
Rodgers has been pretty clear in what he wants, proven stars are needed and not project players.
Whatever the thoughts on the summer buys, everyone needs to look ahead and make sure this winter transfer window is spot on.
If it isn’t, then chants of ‘sack the board’ will only grow louder because it has been a while since there was this much pressure on those in the boardroom.
