Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed the club will be looking into signing another centre-half after Christopher Jullien sustained a severe injury.
As we discussed earlier, the Frenchman collided with the frame of the Celtic goal on Wednesday night. He’ll now be missing for as many as four months.
The Bhoys boss was asked about the situation following today’s defeat against Rangers.
The news on Jullien isn’t good, but Lennon has confirmed they’ll be looking to bring in cover during the current transfer window.
Speaking to The Glasgow Times, he said: “He has ruptured ligaments in his knee. Obviously, that was a blow coming into the game, but I thought we were good.
“It is an area where we will probably look to bring someone in.”
Urgent Celtic need
The central defence is an area that arguably needed strengthening before Jullien’s long-term injury, so the need is only more urgent.
Shane Duffy isn’t working out and, as witnessed today, Nir Bitton still has defensive frailty that could be a concern in big matches moving forward.
Even if Duffy was a stand-out, his loan expires at the end of the season.
With Kristoffer Ajer yet to commit to a long-term contract, Celtic face being ill-prepared for summer European qualifiers again.

A defensive player of quality needs to arrive at Celtic Park. That’s without even taking into account our current Scottish Premiership position.
Hopefully, the club can deliver.
In other news, Packie Bonner reckons enormous changes could be on the way at Celtic.
