‘Not afraid’ – Cillian Sheridan backs Brendan Rodgers to do one thing as Celtic manager

Former Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan is firmly in Brendan Rodgers’ corner when it comes to the Hoops’ ongoing transfer activity.

Celtic have signed seven players this summer but more additions are needed with the Hoops looking light in the attacking department.

Chris Sutton has noticed Rodgers is challenging the hierarchy and Sheridan has noticed similar while backing him to stand by his beliefs.

Brendan Rodgers won’t be afraid to call out the board over lack of transfers

A centre-back and wingers are the priority for the Celtic boss this season and as the time ticks down, frustrations will grow.

Rodgers’ contract is up at the end of the season and Sheridan told the BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast that he thinks that the 52-year-old won’t be afraid to let the Celtic hierarchy know that they haven’t helped him out.

He said: “He’ll want to make an improvement and keep building and keep improving.

“I think he’s shown he’s not afraid to have a slight pop at the board in terms of the players they’re bringing or how much they’re backing him. I don’t think he’ll back down on that either.

“He’s got his own standards and his own expectations on what he wants to do with the club, especially in Europe. So I can’t see him letting up in terms of his demand for getting the supply of players that he needs.”

How many signings do Celtic need this summer?

It’s hard to believe that after seven signings made, Celtic still need to do more business.

The Bhoys still find themselves in a situation where the squad feels thin and the Hoops need players in quickly.

It isn’t out of the question to suggest that three signings at minimum need to be made.

Jakob Breum is of interest to Celtic as they look to bolster their wide positions and more will be needed to compete on all fronts.
