Former Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has sent a heartfelt message on Twitter after leaving the club.
Edouard sealed a move to Crystal Palace earlier this evening [Sky Sports]. After helping the club to reach a Quadruple Treble and 9 titles in a row, it’s fair to say his initial loan move from PSG was a risk worth taking.
With his own iconic chant, to the tune of the Stone Roses hit ‘I Wanna Be Adored’, Edouard was a terrace favourite for four years. Now, he’s away, but he couldn’t help but leave a message of gratitude to the club and supporters.
Edouard tweeted:
And what a legacy he leaves. While some sections of the support have gone cold on the French striker, his accolades and numbers stack up with some of the greats.
In total, Edouard won three domestic trebles as part of the Celtic first-team. Not only that, he was twice the Scottish Premiership top goalscorer accolade, and finished with 86 goals in 179 Bhoys appearances [Transfermarkt].
Edouard leaves Celtic as a modern era great
It’s so sad that Eddy couldn’t finish his time at Celtic with a goal on Sunday. If anything, his miss at Ibrox summed up the luck he’d had in recent months. After getting into a great position to score, his mishit effort trickled out for a goal kick.
It wasn’t the Odsonne Edouard that Celtic fans had grown accustomed to. All kinds of goals, both important and routine, had been put away by the Frenchman since he joined the club.

Crystal Palace is an interesting choice. Their fanbase is definitely one of the more vocal ones in the Premier League, and Edouard will surely feed off that. However, under new boss Patrick Vieira, he may find chances harder to come by.
If he can get regular service from Wilfried Zaha, there’s the makings of an electric partnership there. Certainly, that’s what Eagles fans will be hoping for.
Mercurial, and to an extent misunderstood, we hope Edouard can be a Premier League success.
