Celtic-linked Oskar Wojcik has spoken publicly about his future.

Wojcik has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Cracovia in Poland, and was reportedly the subject of a bid from Celtic in January.

After remaining with the Ekstraklasa side in January, he is now expected to leave in the coming transfer window, and the Hoops are not alone in admiring the 22-year-old.

He has discussed the speculation after the conclusion of the Polish season, in which his club finished 13th.

Oskar Wojcik reveals no talks over Cracovia exit

“I haven’t heard anything from the club or my agents.

“It’s only in the media.

He then revealed his ambition to play in the Premier League, but that he isn’t quite ready for that yet, saying: “Obviously, it’s not the right time yet, but I’ll definitely want to get there someday.

“We don’t know what will happen before then. There’s no specific plan.”

At 6 ft 3 in tall, Wojcik has operated as a central defender on both sides in both a back three and a back four for the Ekstraklasa side.

Celtic reportedly failed in a €4 million+ bid to sign the defender in the final days of the January transfer window.

In the end, the Hoops did complete the signing of a central defender before the end of the window in the shape of Benjamin Arthur on loan from Brentford.

The 20-year-old was largely a back-up player, with Liam Scales and Auston Trusty remaining Martin O’Neill’s first-choice pairing.

Ahead of the summer window, Wojcik’s price has only risen. Serie A sides Torino, Fiorentina, and Bologna are all reportedly in the fray.

Coventry City are also interested after securing promotion to the Premier League under Frank Lampard, while Brondby have also failed in previous attempts to sign him.

Martin O’Neill on his Celtic future and ‘project’

Speaking to the media on his future after Celtic completed the double, O’Neill said: “I don’t think I’ll lose the passion for the game. Honestly, I really don’t.

“But I would be thinking that the football club to go forward, to go forward properly, would probably be looking at somebody younger.

“If you’re asking me, would you have a project or something that gets here? No, I couldn’t do that. I wouldn’t have it.

“I’ve never believed in a project anyway, to tell you the truth. But I definitely couldn’t do that.”
