When it comes to the January transfer window, things might be quiet on the incoming front, but Celtic are ensuring everybody else is kept in-house.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been a crucial player for the club since he arrived in 2021, including proving to be the best defender in Scotland.

But Celtic fans received the best news of the January window so far this week when the 26-year-old penned a new contract at Parkhead.

Peter Grant shared that he is ‘delighted’ with the news because Cameron Carter-Vickers has been ‘magnificent’, as he told Go Radio.

Injuries have frustrated the player in recent weeks, but the winter break did him the world of good because it allowed him to recover.

And whilst it was a performance to forget during Celtic’s 1-0 win against Ross County on Saturday, the American returned to the XI yesterday and helped the team to a valuable clean sheet.

It’s the perfect way for Cameron Carter-Vickers to celebrate his new contract extension, with Peter Grant sharing his thoughts on that news.

“Delighted because he has been magnificent to Celtic, to be fair, Carter-Vickers,” said Grant.

“The experience he has given to the back guys. He has played alongside Scales and the younger ones who have come in. He has been a rock and improved each time.

“Unfortunately, he has had a few injuries. But the team looks so much better when he is in it. I am absolutely delighted for him because he deserves it. You have to play to earn your contracts and he has done that exceptionally well. I am sure that the Celtic fans will be delighted with that signing.”

More positive news to follow?

Only a few days remain before the January transfer window slams shut and it seems as though winger Nicolas Kuhn will be the only standout deal.

Not only were the wide areas the least of the fans’ worries, but many, including Brendan Rodgers himself, expected more than this.

Proven quality has constantly been thrown about for months, yet it hasn’t arrived.

Whilst some fans will be frustrated, it’s worth pointing out that what matters the most is the long-term.

If those players aren’t joining this month, fair enough, but surely something is in the offing for the summer?

And if the title isn’t delivered because of poor recruitment, then the anger will really grow within the fanbase.
