Peter Grant says Celtic player’s form ‘grates me’, as he thinks the club will now sell him this summer

The dust has settled from Celtic’s Scottish Cup final defeat to Aberdeen.

Celtic have become so dominant in Scotland that winning Trebles has become the norm, when it never has been and should not be as easy as they have made it.

The feeling heading into the Hampden finale, and even those from outside of Celtic, was that Brendan Rodgers’ side would win, and it was the logical take.

Only ten days ago, Celtic’s reserves side thrashed Aberdeen at Pittodrie, as well as scoring five and six in their previous meetings, including in the League Cup semi-final last November.

But Jimmy Thelin’s men pulled off a shock by securing their first Scottish Cup win in over 30 years via a deserved penalty shootout victory.

And there are a few players in Celtic colours who are coming under fire.

Celtic to sell Nicolas Kuhn after Scottish Cup final defeat to Aberdeen?

Nicolas Kuhn has been a huge talking point in 2025, including how his form has dropped off after that blistering start to the campaign.

Ahead of the summer transfer window re-opening, Peter Grant admits that he could see Kuhn heading for the exit door ‘if a good offer comes in’, because Celtic will ‘let him go’, as he told Go Radio.

“The thing I would like to say is that quality coming in, that sparks you anyway,” said Grant about Celtic’s summer transfer window. “It doesn’t matter how long you have been here.

“There aren’t many bigger clubs than Celtic, let me tell you that. The thing is, they will always be able to attract players. I just sometimes think that you have to spark the other players.

“We have said it for months, no matter what happened with the league and the cup, it was always aiming to try and get four starters in. The training ground is so, so important that, that is competitive.

“I think boys will go anyway. That’s why I spoke about the Kuhn’s. If a good offer comes in, then they will let him go, but then you are bringing in a starter winger. Jota was a blow to Celtic because they thought they were going to see the best of him this season.

“I think we need to up the bar with the Yang’s, at this minute in time. Even though he is still young. But the Kuhn’s, and that, for sure, I think if they get the money, that’s what I am talking about, sparking it. That sparks everything.”

When did Kuhn’s Celtic downfall start?

James Forrest was outstanding at Pittodrie, including being in top form in recent weeks, yet Rodgers opted to start Kuhn instead.

Grant explained that Kuhn’s performances ‘grate me’, because he isn’t getting on the ball and taking his man on.

The former Celtic player stated that Forrest is doing what a wide player should be doing, but not the man starting in front of him.

“I think the biggest disappointment the likes of Brendan will have, and I am looking at the likes of Kuhn,” said Grant.

“I am thinking, when he gets the ball, I am thinking ‘why doesn’t he do what James Forrest does?’, because that’s what he was doing at the start of the season.

“I keep going back to it, the Rangers game, when Jefte left one on him, for me, he hasn’t been at the standard since. For me, as a wide player, that is your job to turn, face people up, and run at them. Take them out of the game. Make them foul you. Whatever. I never saw him do it once.

“That grates me a little bit because I see James Forrest coming on, and all of a sudden, James is at them. And you are thinking, ‘go on, take them on’.”
