Celtic dealt Aberdeen a harsh lesson less than two weeks before the Scottish Cup final.

Brendan Rodgers rounded off his final away fixture after he picked a Celtic second-string team to take on Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Celtic took the lead midway through the first half but after a lengthy stop as a fan received medical treatment, Aberdeen equalised immediately after the restart.

Jimmy Thelin’s team enjoyed a small ten-minute period of domination but Celtic quickly re-asserted their dominance when Hyunjun Yang put the Hoops back ahead at the stroke of halftime.

Celtic’s power was just too strong for Aberdeen as Brendan Rodgers’ side battered The Dons with another three goals and it was a performance that took Chris Sutton’s breath away.

Celtic hero James Forrest blows Chris Sutton away

James Forrest was one of the best players on the pitch and had a hand in at least three of Celtic’s goals at Pittodrie.

With an assist for Luke McCowan’s strike, the veteran winger is still proving that at 33, he still has what it takes to make an impact at Celtic.

And taking to social media, Sutton never held back with his praise for the record-breaking Celtic legend.

Sutton said on X, “Celtic’s second string too good for Aberdeen. Great night for Johnny Kenny. Lovely moment for him.

“James Forrest is the most underrated Celtic player in my memory. Absolutely phenomenal.”

James Forrest is still searching for that elusive Celtic goal

Forrest was trying hard to get that goal last night, wasn’t he? Fans could see that at every opportunity the winger had he was taking shots at the Aberdeen goal.

The Celtic legend is still chasing the Premiership goal that would mean that he has scored in every season he has played for the club since making his debut in 2010.

But despite not hitting the back of the net, Forrest’s contribution to Celtic’s win at Pittodrie cannot be understated.

With St Mirren still to play, the Celtic winger has one more chance to grab that elusive goal and on the form Forrest was in last night, it would be hard to bet against him doing it.
