You wonder what would have happened if Celtic had signed Kasper Dolberg this summer.

During the final weeks of Celtic’s abject 2025 summer transfer window, there were suggestions that the Hoops could sign Kasper Dolberg.

The 28-year-old was in the colours of Anderlecht, and he was going to head for the exit door in Belgium.

Despite the excitement of Celtic supporters, Dolberg returned to Ajax, but life hasn’t been easy, especially for the Dutch club.

On Saturday, as Celtic beat St Mirren with a wonder goal from Callum McGregor in stoppage time, Dolberg was netting his first goal since returning to Ajax.

Relegation-threatened Excelsior secured a 2-1 win in Amsterdam, as they piled more misery on the managerless club.

After going 2-0 down, Dolberg was fed the ball inside the penalty area, as he took a clean touch and dispatched the ball into the bottom corner.

It’s a relief for Dolberg, because he has netted his first goal since re-joining Ajax, but everything isn’t rosy in the garden for his club side.

Celtic and Ajax’s search for a new manager

Celtic are Scotland’s biggest club, and Ajax are the biggest club in the Netherlands.

But heading into Christmas, the duo are searching for a new manager after a turbulent start to their campaigns.

A week after Brendan Rodgers left Celtic, those in the Ajax boardroom opted to sack Johnny Heitinga after their 3-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Whilst both of them are in the same boat, Celtic will still back themselves to win the title in Scotland this season, because they are only four points behind Hearts, as Ajax are a mammoth 14 points behind their leaders, PSV.
