A Serie A club has now joined the race to sign Kilmarnock midfielder David Watson.

Celtic have been linked with Watson for some time, who is out of contract at the end of the season and therefore able to speak to clubs about a bosman move from 1 January 2026.

67 Hail Hail revealed that Hearts could rival the Hoops for the Scotland U21 international, while Aberdeen are also monitoring his situation.

However, a new club has entered the fold.

Poll: Which position do Celtic need to strengthen in the 2026 January transfer window?

Lazio interested in David Watson

Italy has recently become a popular place for Scottish players to go and play their football.

There are plenty of success stories like Lewis Ferguson and Scott McTominay – both of whom are regulars in the Scotland squad.

Il Messaggero have claimed that the 20-year-old is being watched by Lazio ahead of a possible transfer.

Maurizio Sarri is wanting a midfielder that can come in and make an instant impact for the Biancazzurri and sees Watson as a potential alternative to their first-choice option.

Stuart Kettlewell provided a ringing endorsement of David Watson

Regular football will be key for the midfielder, as he is getting at Kilmarnock right now.

Stuart Kettlewell has made the Scotland U21 international central to his plans, but knows he has a bright future ahead.

Speaking in September 2025, he said: “He is a breath of fresh air.

“David has been like that since I walked in.

“He is a lad who plays football with a smile on his face and an aggression. He has so much quality and the beauty for him is that his future is all ahead of him.”
