Read MoreReport: 2021 Celtic target Siegrist now attracting interest from Manchester United
Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist, who has been scouted extensively by Celtic, is now being linked with Manchester United.
Last year, there were reports from Switzerland and Scotland that the Bhoys were showing interest in the Tannadice shot-stopper after fine form in the Scottish Premiership.
The player himself even commented on the speculation, insisting he wouldn’t force a move away from the Tangerines.
Ultimately Celtic didn’t make a move and have committed to both Joe Hart and Scott Bain on multi-year contracts.
However, with Siegrist’s deal at United expiring this summer, he’s attracting attention from interested clubs again – including the Old Trafford side.
That’s what The Sun are reporting this weekend. They say Red Devils scout Tony Coton recently took in a game between Celtic and Dundee United specifically to watch Siegrist.
Coton knows Siegrist from their time at Aston Villa together and could provide cover for David de Gea.
Celtic 4-0 Ross County | Full-Time Reaction
Unfortunately for the 30-year-old, he didn’t have his best game for United against Celtic on Monday night. He usually saves his best performances for matches against us – or at least that’s what it feels like, but it wasn’t a good 90 minutes for him.
On a free transfer, I could think of worse ideas for Celtic this summer. I’d suggest he is an upgrade on Bain in terms of ability – though the Scottish shot-stopper is a valued member of Ange Postecoglou’s dressing room.
An interesting situation to watch over the coming months nonetheless.
