Report: Alexandro Bernabei set for Celtic medical this week; contract details
Lanus left-back Alexandro Bernabei is reportedly set to arrive in Glasgow later this week and complete his medical ahead of a move to Celtic.
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Hoops over the last few weeks as Ange Postecoglou looks to add a new full-back to his squad.
Celtic’s pursuit of Bernabei has stepped up in recent days, with reports stating that a breakthrough bid has been made and terms have been agreed by all parties. And that’s been followed by the following update from Argentinian journalist Cesar Luis Merlo.
According to the above tweet from @CLMerlo, Bernabei will arrive in Scotland this week and complete his medical before officially becoming a Celtic player.
The journalist also confirmed that the left-back will be signing a five-year deal with the club, which will see him remain at Parkhead until at least 2027.
Alexandro Bernabei set for 5-year Celtic contract
Ange Postecoglou has several transfer priorities on his list this summer. But the left-back position seemed to be one high up on that list.
Over the last few weeks, the Bhoys have been linked with a number of different options, including Hammarby left-back Mohanad Jeahze.
However, the Celtic manager now has his man who will fill that slot, with supporters now patiently anticipating the confirmation of Bernabei’s move.
The full-back is highly regarded back in his homeland and looks to be another brilliant move from Ange Postecoglou in the transfer window.
The Argentine youngster will become the first player from his nation to pull on Celtic’s green and white Hoops and will have the chance to perform on the big stage next season, with Postecoglou’s side preparing for Champions League group stage football.
Many Celtic supporters are excited to see what Bernabei will bring to Parkhead, and he should arrive in time for the Bhoys’ pre-season return early next week.
