Celtic are happy to keep Tom Rogic as a member of Neil Lennon’s squad this season after he rejected the chance to leave for Qatar, Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has reported on Monday.

As we discussed last week, Rogic was beginning to have second thoughts about leaving for an unnamed club abroad, despite Celtic accepting a bid for his services.

Now it appears the move has fallen through completely, with reporter Joseph stating he couldn’t agree personal terms.

Celtic recognise he might seek an exit to get more regular week-to-week action but are also happy to have him around as part of Lennon’s plans.

Quite where Rogic fits in is a mystery at this point, however.

Injury and fitness problems have seriously hampered his progress at the club over the past 12 months and Lennon has barely used him in 2020.

The Australian’s last appearance came back in March against St Mirren, though he was an unused substitute against both Reykjavik and Hamilton in the early stages of this season.

There’s no doubt he’s a quality player at his peak but he hasn’t been at that peak for quite some time.

If Lennon can get him fit and motivate he could actually play a massive part this season but that seems a big ask at this point.

An exit might well be the best thing for all concerned if there are any more interested parties.

Still, he’s not a bad player to have on the books in a pinch and thankfully it appears that Celtic haven’t completely given up on him.

In other news, a Celtic transfer target has been tipped for big things.
