Celtic have enquired about signing Juventus star Mattia De Sciglio, Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported on Friday.
The transfer specialist reckons that Juve are keen on cashing in on some of their talents before the transfer deadline.
Celtic reportedly put themselves forward for De Sciglio, but unfortunately, he is not convinced that a move to the Scottish Premiership is for him.
A move for De Sciglio is audacious on the Bhoys’ part, considering he is a player of excellent Italian top-flight pedigree who has won multiple major trophies and at one point became an Italian national team staple.
He’s won 39 caps with his country in total.
The full-back, who can operate on the left or right, has made appearances in six of the last nine Champions League tournaments with Juventus and Milan too.
A player of that quality arriving at Celtic to compete on the left flank would have been magic.
Even though it appears the move isn’t progressing, Neil Lennon is clearly on the hunt for a stand-out player to complete his 3-5-2 lineups.
Also linked to Ryan Sessegnon in recent days (Sky Sports), the irons we have in the transfer fire ahead of Monday are very intriguing.
Greg Taylor is improving all the time, but he still needs competition, and some fans are even unconvinced he can be a mainstay on the way to ten-in-a-row.
Bringing in an experienced operator with a profile like De Sciglio’s would be a huge boost coming out of the transfer window.
