Read MoreReport: Celtic showing interest in Eredivisie defender Milan van Ewijk
Celtic are showing interest in Dutch defender Milan van Ewijk ahead of the summer transfer window, VI has reported today.
The outlet believes that the Bhoys are one of five teams keen on the 21-year-old alongside PSV, Queens Park Rangers, Lille and Stade Brest.
It’s said that he is drawing comparisons to Inter Milan and Netherlands star Denzel Dumfries, who also played for Heerenveen at right-back before moving to PSV.
VI report that the Dutch club are looking for a similar fee to the €5.5m they received for Dumfries. [ED]
Celtic have shown interest in Milan van Ewijk before
Before signing for Heerenveen from ADO Den Haag last summer, the same magazine said Celtic were in the hunt to bring van Ewijk to Scotland. So this is a long-term link.
However, he could be set for an exit from the Eredivisie club after just one season. That means the Bhoys could re-enter the race and bolster Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
He’s showing strong potential, having already racked up more than 75 appearances in the Dutch top-flight despite only being 21.

The defender is also attracting international attention, winning caps at the U21 level for a talented Netherlands group back in March.
However, his position is also where Celtic already have options in Josip Juranovic and Anthony Ralston.
It’s unclear whether Ange Postecoglou will look to strengthen this area before next season with left-back and centre-back perhaps considered stronger priorities.
Still, add the name to your transfer tracker ahead of what could be a pretty busy Champions League boosted window! Could Van Ewijk help optimise Ange’s options?
