Celtic are on the verge of signing Patryk Klimala in a £3.5m deal, according to The Glasgow Times.
The outlet say that barring any last-minute complications the player will become Neil Lennon’s first January transfer window signing and that it could even be done today.
As we discussed on Friday, Klimala was one of the three players that journalist Stephen McGowan claimed we were in talks to sign alongside Ismaila Soro of Bnei Yehuda and Moussa Sissako of Paris Saint-German.
A medical is now expected by The Glasgow Times to completed on Sunday.
The signing will be a welcome boost for some impatient supporters who have been frustrated by our lack of action in the transfer window so far.
The biggest bit of business completed to date has been the sale of Scott Sinclair to Preston North End.
We’ve been badly needing a striker to come in and compete for places at a higher standard than Vakoun Bayo and Leigh Griffiths, both of whom are having poor seasons.
Klimala might not be the only striker coming in, with reports suggesting that we’re on the hunt for two players in the forward positions, as Neil Lennon rethinks his squad options for the second half of the season.
The 21-year-old is a youth international with Poland and has netted seven goals in 17 league matches this season.
Former striker Maciej Zurawski has claimed he has potential to be the player to replace Robert Lewandowski in his country’s senior side (The Scottish Sun).
Obviously, if he reaches those kinds of heights he will go down as a tremendous signing, but I’d be happy if he simply settled quickly and looked good at Scottish Premiership level for now.
