Charlton Athletic are bracing themselves for a late bid from Celtic for wideman Alfie Doughty before tomorrow night’s transfer deadline, The Sunday Post reports (04/10 print edition, back page).
As we know, the English League One side have already rejected two advances from the Scottish champions for the 20-year-old.
However, The Sunday Post say that they are now expecting a third bid before tomorrow’s deadline and it will rise from £800,000 to above £1m.
Celtic’s interest in Doughty has been well reported over the last month and he’s already a name well known to plenty of fans.

Neil Lennon has told supporters to expect at least one more signing in the door tomorrow (The Scottish Sun).
The hunt for a Boli Bolingoli replacement has been an extended one and could go to the wire.
However, if we’re as interested in Doughty as we appear to be, surely we’ll be able to land our man over the next 24 hours?
Charlton will definitely require a bit more persuading.
Their new owners have made it perfectly clear they don’t want to lose the player this season, as we discussed yesterday.
Doughty has primarily played as a left midfielder this term but has a history of featuring at left-back as well.

It’s thought he has the speed, trickery and defensive nous to perform in the hybrid wing-back role as part of Lennon’s ongoing 3-5-2 system.
Aiden McGeady, who played on loan with him at the Valley in 2019/20, suggested as much on Go Radio last month.
I’m hoping we get this one over the line tomorrow.
In other news, the manager has provided an injury update on Albian Ajeti ahead of the upcoming Rangers game.
