Celtic target Vinicius Souza is attracting a lot of attention across Europe this summer and there are no guarantees when it comes to the club’s pursuit, The Daily Record has reported.

The paper believes that the club face a tough task to convince the player to commit his future to the Bhoys, as the identity of teams chasing his signature becomes clearer.

However, Celtic do hold a key advantage over many of the admirers – guaranteed Champions League group stage football.

It’s said that Souza really wants to test himself at the continental level next term, which could be a key selling point for the Bhoys over the next couple of weeks.

Earlier this week we brought you comments from his agent who suggested he already had multiple offers on the table from the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.

The Record now names the teams keen on his signature as PSV, Club Brugge and Bologna, with Fenerbahce also showing interest.

Vinicius Souza heading for a big move but will it be Celtic?

Only Brugge can offer guaranteed Champions League action, with PSV and Fenerbahce in qualifying. Bologna, meanwhile, are not involved in any UEFA competitions next term.

Given Souza also has links to the City Group, Celtic may be a stronger competitor on this potential deal than you might expect otherwise. Our relationships there are very firm.

It seems whoever signs the Brazilian this summer will be landing a bit of a coup. He’s certainly in an enviable position and that could drive up the kind of money he asks for.

As we know, Ange Postecoglou is all about commitment and attitude, so it should become quickly apparent whether or not he’s a player Celtic should go all-in for.

His profile is excellent and Celtic have a need for an all-action defensive midfielder, but is he up for the battle in Glasgow? Time will tell!

In other news, Steve Clarke finally gives Celtic duo opportunities after frustrating summer.
