Bayern Munich have reportedly triggered a one-year extension on the contract of Christopher Scott.

The 20-year old had been linked with a move away from the German giants, with his contract set to come to an end this summer.

However, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the attacking midfielder’s deal at the Allianz Arena has been extended.

Despite having his contract extended by a further year, the German under-20 internationalist is still keen to leave the club he has spent the last two years at, it’s stated.

Celtic have previously been linked with a move for Scott, who has played two times for the Bayern first-team, and the same sources from Sky Germany reported two months ago that he had held talks with the Hoops.

More reports over the weekend also suggested that Ange Postecoglou was closing in on the talent, with Celtic being the favourites to get a deal over the line for the young midfielder.

However, Plettenberg has countered that in a further tweet, suggesting that Scott is instead likely to remain in Germany, and clubs are already taking an interest.

The journalist explained that talks between Celtic and the midfielder’s representatives had taken place but that Scott intends to play his football in his homeland.

Postecoglou will have other names he intends to target

Ange Postecoglou has shown us many things during his first year at the club. One of those being that he has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.

Christopher Scott may have been a player being closely watched. But, he will have other options waiting in the wings this window.

The perfect example is our pursuit of Riley McGree in January. When Postecoglou didn’t get his target, he swiftly moved on to move to Matt O’Riley, and the rest is history.

With the Celtic manager making it well known he is keen to bring a midfielder on board after the departures of Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic, there is no doubting he will have another option in there come the end of the summer window.
