Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will be keen to bolster the ranks this summer and plenty of targets have been linked over the last few days.
The goalkeeper dilemma seems to have taken centre stage at Parkhead, with Newcastle United stopper Martin Dubravka and Sparta Prague’s Peter Vindahl Jensen emerging as two heavily linked individuals.
Defensively, Salernitana man Flavius Daniliuc has been mooted as a centre-back that Celtic hold ‘concrete interest’ in by prominent German journalist Florian Plettenberg, so he may be one to keep an eye on as the window progresses.
In other news, Bristol City striker Tommy Conway is reportedly on the radar as a striking option after his club adopted a stance where they would be willing to listen to offers for the Scot amid his refusal to pen an extension at Ashton Gate, which could see him leave for a paltry compensation fee next summer.
Speculation is widespread at this time of year, and plenty of names will be mentioned in connection with Celtic as the window nears officially opening for business.
Now, a familiar name to many in Scottish football circles hasn’t ruled out the prospect of moving to Parkhead.
Scott McKenna refuses to rule out a switch to Celtic
It is important to note that there haven’t been links between central defender Scott McKenna and Celtic this summer as such, with the last reported interest from the Bhoys in his services coming during the January window.
Nevertheless, he is a Scotland international who is available as a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest, so there is always going to be speculation surrounding his future. Motherwell’s Stephen O’Donnell has already floated the idea earlier this week, for example.
Intriguingly, when asked if he would consider a move to Celtic, the Kirriemuir-born man didn’t rule it out as he looks for a new challenge.

He stated [Cited via The Daily Mail]: “That is just natural when you have got teams the size of Celtic and Rangers. I know a lot of people who support both teams, so it is going to happen. They are going to question you, but there is nothing to tell.
“I’m without a club, so I think I would need to consider anything. There is nothing as of now, so there is nothing to think about. For me, that is completely on the back burner – I just have to do everything I can in training to try and get whatever minutes I can on the pitch here. Anything after that will take care of itself.
“There is no bigger stage if you are on the pitch to put you in the shop window. I can only do that by first and foremost training well and trying to get in the manager’s thoughts. To be honest, I am open to anything. I would never rule anything out.
“In terms of the speculation, that’s all it’s ever been. It has never really gone any further than that and, until there is anything more, I don’t really have anything to think about. There’s been no contract talks anywhere, really. My sole focus is to try and get as many minutes as I can here if the opportunity arises. There’s no bigger shop window.”
Brendan Rodgers is an admirer of Scott McKenna
McKenna is involved with Scotland at the Euros right now, making it an unsurprising development that someone has asked whether Celtic could figure in his future plans.
He would count towards the homegrown quota, holds Premier League experience and is a competent defender that Brendan Rodgers has targeted previously, seeing a £5 million bid for his services turned down in 2019 while he was on the books at Aberdeen.
Nevertheless, the fact he hasn’t exactly swatted away the possibility of a switch to Parkhead is intriguing. Maybe we could see him in Glasgow’s east end after all? It doesn’t sound like the worst suggestion, but he is bound to have plenty of offers on the table.
