It’s never easy dealing with the pressure of putting on the Celtic shirt.

Even though Celtic have been dominating in Scotland for two decades now, the expectations just continue to grow, and it can be overpowering for some.

During the 2025 summer transfer window, when the Celtic board got a lot of stick, some interesting calls were made.

That’s including Celtic selling Adam Idah to Swansea City, and you just wonder if he falls into the category of a player who couldn’t cope with the pressure of playing in Glasgow.

Adam Idah’s abrupt end at Celtic

Idah first joined Celtic during the January transfer window of 2024 from Norwich City on a loan deal, before making that move permanent the following summer.

But 12 months later, he was out of the door, returning to English football, and Michael Dawson thinks the 24-year-old never wanted it that way.

The former Premier League defender told Sky Sports Football that Idah joined Celtic for the ‘long term’, but he never got the chance to showcase it.

Eilidh Barbour: “Adam Idah, the big-money signing, he had a difficult time at Celtic, in a lot of ways, but he did score goals, and he scored some big goals.

“How much is it, almost about rebuilding his confidence again?”

Dawson: “He is trying to find a home as well. When he went to Celtic, he was thinking this wasn’t for a short term. It was for a long term than what it was. He scored some important goals for them.

“But now he has gone to Swansea City. Every game you play it gives you a chance to show the Swansea fans the reason you were brought to the football club.”

Idah’s stats for Celtic

Idah divided opinion, and that’s what you get with the pressures of trying to be Celtic’s main striker.

But one thing that can’t be denied is that he scored big goals, including in cup finals, as well as against Rangers, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Added to that, Idah still locked in four trophies for Scotland’s most successful club, as well as that cup final winner.
