Marian Shved didn’t have the best of times in Celtic colours.
Even though Celtic are so dominant, it’s never easy trying to keep up with the intense and immense pace the team sets season in and season out.
In 2019, Celtic signed Shved from Karpaty Lviv, hoping he would have a similar impact to the many great wide players who came before him, but he couldn’t get going.
Roll forward to the present times, and it’s those in green and white colours still on top, as the next set of players coming in are going to be met with the same ferocious heat.
Celtic have already re-signed Kieran Tierney from Arsenal, and he knows everything about the club’s pressure, and now, signing number two for the 2025 summer transfer window is nearly here.

Celtic agree on a transfer fee for Benjamin Nygren
Shved has mainly operated on the right flank, and that’s where Benjamin Nygren also likes to play, as his transfer to Celtic moves closer.
Anthony Joseph has shared on social media that Celtic have agreed a fee of ‘£1.7 million’ for Nordsjaelland attacker Nygren – the same price paid for Shved six years ago.
The Sky Sports reporter also added how Celtic are now looking to ‘finalise’ a move for the 23-year-old.
‘UPDATE: Celtic have agreed a fee of £1.7m to sign Nordsjaelland attacker Benjamin Nygren,’ wrote Joseph on Wednesday evening.
‘@SkySportsNews revealed last week that the 23yo verbally agreed terms with #CelticFC and that talks with #FCN were progressing well.
‘Celtic will now look to finalise the move with Nygren.’
Marian Shved’s Celtic career – and what happened next?
Hopefully, when Nygren comes in, he can play more than three matches for Celtic because that’s all Shved managed.
As soon as it became apparent that Shved needed to move on, he was loaned out to K.V. Mechelen in Belgium, before securing a permanent move to the club in 2021.
Since then, the Ukrainian winger has returned to his homeland and is now donning the colours of Shakhtar Donetsk.
But he only managed 11 appearances this term, including failing to come off the bench during Shakhtar’s Champions League campaign, where they departed via the revamped group stages.
