Sky Sports have provided an update on the Rocco Vata situation at Celtic.

Considering how many youth prospects we have lost over the years, fans will be hoping Rocco Vata is one who can have a sustained period breaking into the Celtic side. But other clubs are keen and the Bhoys must be pro-active.

A report by Sky Sports (12:28pm) said: “A number of clubs in Italy, England & Belgium are keen on Celtic attacking midfielder Rocco Vata, who has just joined CAA Base football agency.

“He has one year left on his contract. Vata, 18, impressed for Celtic B & Ireland U19s. He broke into the Celtic first team last term.”

Young Vata has been on of the shining lights to come out of Lennoxtown over the past couple of seasons. At just 18 years old, the Republic of Ireland u19 international has already made four first-team appearances for Celtic.

Vata has also been heavily involved in the Celtic first-team training for a number of months and was taken along to the pre-season tour of Japan.

The youngster made his first team debut in the 4-0 win against Hibs back in December but his most recent run out was against Motherwell in the 1-1 draw at Celtic Park towards the tail end of last season.

With just under a year left on his contract, Celtic will be keen to tie him down for a few more years yet. 67 Hail Hail told how Brendan Rodgers praised the youngster this month and set him a challenge of what he needs to do if he wants to develop his career at the club.

The young Celtic winger admitted back in March that it was his ambition to become a regular in the first-team at some point in the future.

There is no doubt Vata has the talent to make it at Celtic. Let’s just hope that he decides to extend his stay at the club and look to become a part of the new Brendan Rodgers era.
