Celtic have announced Bosun Lawal as the club’s latest signing this evening.

Lawal, 18, will initially work with Tommy McIntyre and the B team.

However, hopes will be high of a big impact considering some of the hype he was earning at Watford.

The versatile talent was named the Hornets’ Academy Player Of The Year last term.

He’s also drawn praise as a talent destined for a big career by figures such as Troy Deeney.

Lawal is a Republic of Ireland youth international too, joining others at the club such as Luca Connell, Lee O’Connor, Barry Coffey and Jonathan Afolabi.

The teenager could play for Celtic B as early as tomorrow, as the season kicks off in the Scottish Lowland Football League.

McIntyre’s side faces off away to Bonnyrigg Rose, a team that had shown opposition to the idea of a B team playing in their division.

It’s sure to be a solid test for the Celtic youngsters, including another recent signing from England, Joey Dawson.

The structured schedule of matches and playing regularly in front of crowds will hopefully better prepare some of these talents for the Celtic first-team.

It’s a massive improvement on behind-closed-door games at training centres with nothing on the line.

Everyone will have the chance to keep a close eye on Lawal’s progress.

Fans were delighted with the announcement tonight, taking to social media to share their thoughts on it all…
