Surprising clause in Osaze Urhoghide Celtic exit
KV Oostende have the option to buy Celtic defender Osaze Urhoghide after the youngster moved on loan for the rest of the season.
Urhoghide only signed for the Bhoys last summer, on a free transfer, but it already looks like he could have played his first and last game for the club.
The Belgian side confirmed the purchase option in their official announcement this evening, as Urhoghide was pictured with his new kit.
It’s reminiscent of the move that Jack Hendry took to the same club.
Urhoghide has been training with Ange Postecoglou’s squad all season, so the manager will have had a good look at him. The fact a purchase option exists suggests that he isn’t considered to be the calibre needed right now.
Liam Shaw, who signed alongside Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday, has also moved out on loan this month but crucially Motherwell do not have a purchase option on his loan.
The defender has only made one appearance in Celtic colours, making his debut against Real Betis in the final Europa League group stage match.
He impressed supporters with his commitment and energy, even if he definitely looked a little bit slack in possession.
It’s slightly disappointing that we seem to have written off his development already, although as ever, we trust Postecoglou and his decisions in the transfer market. He hasn’t let us down yet.
