It’s been all action in the transfer market for Celtic so far, but the same can’t be said for West Ham United.
In terms of finances, the two clubs are in different worlds, but Celtic have been busy bringing in four players ever since the 2025 summer transfer window re-opened on June 16.
The same can’t be said for West Ham, who, after spending big last summer, close to £150 million, have started the current window pretty quietly.
But then on Tuesday, West Ham signed Daniel Cummings from Celtic, after he decided to leave Glasgow and continue his footballing chapter in London.

West Ham fans react after Daniel Cummings joins from Celtic
Celtic wanted to keep Cummings, but he clearly felt that there wasn’t a pathway into Brendan Rodgers’ first team.
Whilst the player himself is delighted at joining a Premier League side, the West Ham fans themselves aren’t exactly enamoured with it.
That’s not the player’s fault; the Hammers are in a negative bubble because, after finishing in the bottom half last season and also changing their manager, those paying for their tickets don’t exactly trust their owners to get the club back on track.
That’s why there was a negative, unhappy and sarcastic reaction to Cummings’ arrival, with the owner, David Sullivan, not being a popular person.
@WestHam_Central with the first sarcastic response: ‘A SIGNING.’
@WHURuss explained his issue: ‘He’ll be left in the reserves as Potter doesn’t like attacking players nor does he believe in attacking football.’
@stanfromwp noted where Cummings ranks right now: ‘Which makes him currently our #1 Striker…!! (not kidding…!!)’
@CasperJarrott isn’t optimistic: ‘Only signing of the summer at this rate.’
@itschaggs_ wants first-team signings: ‘Welcome to the club, but let’s start making some first-team player signings.’
Another fan who isn’t happy with Cummings’ arrival, as @RobF_WHU added: ‘Wake me up when you’ve signed someone that will actually start for the first team 🥱’
@usawhu2 with a sarcastic message to the West Ham owner: ‘I speak for all West Ham fans, thank you, David Sullivan, for this quality business. Continuing to drive us forward. We’d be screwed without you!’
@MarkWake375879 continued that theme: ‘Finally, a world-class signing we were promised.’
@stevemed noted what he thinks will happen to Cummings: ‘Another loan out player. What a waste.’
@SamCaton_ isn’t optimistic: ‘The championship 26/27 is not ready 🔥🔥’
@TomBolt0n also added: ‘Transfer window done, good one lads.’
@SimonBrewer20 didn’t hold back: ‘Yay…..window shut….great job….you clowns.’
@Steve_WHU_ raised a question: ‘I wonder if he’ll ever make an appearance.’
@JasonBade88 can’t see Cummings playing for the senior side: ‘Won’t play a single game for the first team.’
West Ham state where Cummings will play
Cummings made his Celtic debut against Aston Villa in the Champions League in January, but he wasn’t seen after that.
Whilst the 19-year-old might be earning more money at the London Stadium, he mentioned, one of the reasons why he joined was because of the ‘pathway into the first team’.
But, as of this current moment, Cummings has gone from Celtic’s B team to the U21 age groups of West Ham, as the club confirmed on their website.
West Ham wrote: ‘A Scotland youth international, the prolific 19-year-old has signed a long-term deal with the Hammers and will this week join up with Mark Robson’s Academy U21 development squad for pre-season training.
‘Lanarkshire-born Cummings now embarks on the next stage of his development in Claret and Blue, linking up with the U21s as they begin their preparations ahead of the new Premier League 2 campaign.’
