Celtic are keen on recruiting players for the first team, but also have one eye on the future with some signings.

Kieran Tierney, Ross Doohan and Benjamin Nygren are all players that can come in immediately and make an impact in the first team, while Callum Osmand will be tipped as one for the future.

Isaac English also joined Celtic’s B team and Brendan Rodgers will keep close tabs on Stephen McManus’ side ahead of bringing the next Tierney through to the side.

Their latest target is one that is making waves in Ireland and the Hoops have already been told they’d be landing a serious talent.

Celtic told that Cathal O’Sullivan is one of the best young players in the country

The Irish Independent reported earlier this week that Cork City teenager Cathal O’Sullivan was on Celtic’s radar.

O’Sullivan shone in his breakthrough campaign in 2024, scoring seven times and has been a regular this term.

His performances have even seen him named in the Republic of Ireland’s U21 squad and is also attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Celtic would have to move quickly to sign the 17-year-old and Cork manager Tim Clancy believes he could be the next £1m export from Ireland.

Speaking to the Irish Times in April, he said: “It will be very difficult to keep hold of Cathal O’Sullivan.

“I think technically Cathal is streets ahead of any other young lad in the country.”

Cathal O’Sullivan can audition for Celtic transfer

If Celtic are genuinely plotting a move for O’Sullivan, there’s no better chance to make a decision than when the Hoops face Cork in a pre-season friendly on 8 July.

There’s every chance the young winger will feature and if he impresses, it may encourage Rodgers to make a move.

Unlike some of his Irish counterparts who have had to wait for moves to England due to Brexit employment laws, O’Sullivan would be allowed to join straightaway as he is 18.
