The Birmingham City deal that could revive Celtic’s chances of re-signing Kyogo Furuhashi

Celtic are desperately in need of a striker and the narrow win against Falkirk proved that.

Despite Benjamin Nygren’s header, it was another toothless night in front of goal as the Hoops failed to show any real threat.

Daizen Maeda looked anonymous up top while Johnny Kenny wasn’t really given a sniff in front of goal.

To try and bolster their attack, Celtic looked at bringing Kyogo Furuhashi back to Glasgow.

Martin O’Neill admitted that a deal for Kyogo was unlikely last week but, fresh activity at Birmingham City may mean it could be back on.

Birmingham City linked with Allsvenskan’s top scorer

According to Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports News, Birmingham are in talks with Djurgardens IF about signing striker August Priske.

The Denmark U21 international scored 18 goals in 27 games to claim the Allsvenskan’s golden boot.

His performances have attracted attention from all across Europe, including interest from LOSC Lille and Besiktas. He could even be a good option for Celtic.

If it was to go through, that is another player that stands between Kyogo and regular football.

Kyogo could return to Celtic if August Priske joins Birmingham

Kyogo finally ended his goal drought against Cambridge United in the FA Cup, but could still find himself back in the green and white.

If Priske does join Birmingham, that will be another player that the Japanese forward would have to compete with.

At Celtic, he would be guaranteed regular minutes and that number nine role would be waiting for him with open arms.

Moving back to the Bhoys may be more appealing, even if only temporary, and help solve the club’s attacking issues.
