The Celtic transfer machine begins to move again with Sky Sports update

Celtic have made an enquiry to Barcelona regarding attacking midfield talent Alex Collado, Sky Sports journalists Anthony Joseph and Lyall Thomas have reported this afternoon.

Collado’s name surfaced in Spanish and Greek reports earlier in the day with Olympiacos also said to be keen on his services.

The 23-year-old is unlikely to get game time at Barcelona this season, having already spent a year out on loan in La Liga at Granada last term.

Collado has been linked with a switch to Celtic before, with reports surfacing in 2020 that the Bhoys were seeking a loan move. Ultimately the player decided to stay at the club he’s been with since a young age.

The speculation around Collado may not work out, but Celtic’s interest here is credible and it seems the club are looking into how a potential move might work before the upcoming transfer deadline.

It’s the first time for a while a realistic name has popped up on the Celtic gossip rumour mill, and that is notable itself.

The transfer machine is spinning back up at the Bhoys after an initially busy summer period that resulted in big arrivals and a lot of money being spent.

Ange Postecoglou has insisted along the way that the club remain ‘active and agile’ in the market, especially if departures from the first-team squad occur.

However, today’s rush of reports suggests that more business could be on the way sooner rather than later, with the manager rounding out his squad options for a busy upcoming period.

I would expect more names to pop up in reports over the next week or so as the Bhoys explore their options, agents drum up interest in their clients and players themselves realise they want a move away from their clubs.

Likewise, we’re about due reports of our own out-of-favour talents making a needed switch. Things could be about to ramp up on the news front as Celtic take care of business in the early league fixtures.

In other news, Ange Postecoglou references dodgy Kilmarnock pitch but insists Celtic must find Sunday answers.
