The fan reaction to Celtic Filip Benkovic reports is tepid at best

Celtic fans appear unimpressed with reports that the club are in discussions to sign Filip Benkovic.

Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has stated this evening that Celtic have opened talks to bring the Croatian back to Glasgow.

It’s said that Celtic are keen on a loan-to-buy deal for the player.

However, Benkovic’s progress since leaving the club last year has been painfully slow.

He failed to make the grade at Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes before being shipped to Cardiff City on loan.

That was so unsuccessful that Leicester have decided to cut short his stay in Wales and sort out a January move for him.

Player returns rarely work, so some supporters have been left scratching their head at Celtic’s interest.

It’s not as if Neil Lennon was a massive fan of him the first time around when he took over from Rodgers.

Benkovic started just twice under Lennon, one of which was in a heavily rotated side against Hearts on the final day of the Scottish Premiership season.

Celtic fan reaction to Filip Benkovic reports

There’s no doubt the centre-half has talent. There’s also no doubt we need someone in his position.

But, for me, there are too many question marks about his ability to come in and play immediately to get too excited about the reports.

Plenty of Celtic fans are in the same boat, taking to Twitter tonight to share their thoughts on it all…

In other news, Celtic have released a statement on the unacceptable abuse aimed at Nir Bitton.
