Carl Starfelt has departed Celtic to join La Liga side Celta Vigo.
The transfer was confirmed by Celtic on Thursday morning, with Starfelt departing the club after two successful seasons. (Celtic)
The Swede won five trophies and sampled UEFA Champions League group stage football in Glasgow, and will be remembered fondly in years to come.
“After two full seasons with Celtic, Carl Starfelt has left the club to join La Liga side RC Celta,” the club wrote.
“The Swedish central defender joined the Hoops in July 2021 from Rubin Kazan and played 87 times for the Hoops, scoring three times.
“He leaves having won five domestic honours during his time at Paradise, including last season’s historic Treble.

“Everyone at Celtic wishes Carl Starfelt every success in his future career.”
Starfelt’s exit is the third major one at Celtic this summer after Aaron Mooy and Jota both departing the club for different reasons.
It’s kind of sad that we won’t ever see a Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers centre-back pairing again. The duo were a huge part of our recent success. Carter-Vickers rightly got much of the credit but Starfelt played his part too.
The pair will, at least, always have an incredible record that will stand the test of time. Remarkably, Celtic never lost a Premiership match that Starfelt and Carter-Vickers started together.
The Hoops lost six league matches over the past two seasons, but all arrived with one or both of the central-defenders missing.
Their full starting record reads: played 48, won 41, drawn 7, lost 0
In games when one/both didn’t start: played 29, won 21, drawn 2, lost 6

In order, our six league defeats and partnerships were:
Hearts 2-1 Celtic — Bitton, Starfelt (July 2021)
Rangers 1-0 Celtic — Welsh, Starfelt (August 2021)
Livingston 1-0 Celtic — Carter-Vickers, Welsh (September 2021)
St. Mirren 2-0 Celtic — Welsh, Jenz (September 2022)
Rangers 3-0 Celtic — Starfelt, Kobayashi (May 2023)
Hibernian 4-2 Celtic — Starfelt, Kobayashi (May 2023)
Starfelt will be remembered as a reliable defender who was part of a really successful period for Celtic.
We wish him all of the best in Spain.
