Celtic fans will be keen to see a resolution found surrounding the future of Liel Abada amid his difficult situation at Parkhead.
The 22-year-old has been left out of the Hoops’ last two matchday squads after Brendan Rodgers confirmed he wasn’t in the ‘right frame of mind’ to take any part owing to well-documented events away from the field.
Abada has been an influential contributor to the Hoops’ trophy-laden success since arriving in 2021, registering 29 goals and 22 assists in 112 appearances for the Scottish Premiership holders across all competitions [Transfermarkt].
On the contrary, his performances in a Celtic jersey have dipped significantly since reports of his challenges at Parkhead emerged during the January transfer window.
Last month, the Israel international was the subject of interest from West Bromwich Albion, Southampton and Watford, alongside clubs in France and Germany.
Nevertheless, he remained in Glasgow despite considerable speculation and now holds a complex standing among Rodgers’ squad, which may go some way to explaining why Nicolas Kuhn was identified and brought in on the flank.
Liel Abada’s Celtic future is still unresolved with talks readied
There has been an update from Rodgers on Abada’s next steps, as the Irishman noted in his pre-match press conference before Celtic’s draw with Kilmarnock last weekend that he may need to let the 22-year-old leave the club.
Reports in his homeland have suggested that his agent will travel to Glasgow for talks over his future, with US-based sides believed to be keen to offer the winger a Parkhead exit route.

At present, a permanent deal looks to be the most likely course of action, with Celtic unwilling to sanction a loan. However, attempts to thrash out a fee between both parties have proved problematic.
Now, The Scottish Sun have offered the latest state of play on events, claiming that Abada is keen to move on after becoming ‘increasingly unsettled’ in Glasgow’s east end.
The outlet state that there may also be complications in a move to Major League Soccer due to their Designated Player registration regulations.
With Israel in EURO 2024 play-off action next month against Iceland, the Petah Tikva-born wide-man is keen to get back to ensure he is in their plans, though his options are restrained, given that most transfer windows are closed around the world, barring a select few.
One way or another, Abada’s destiny needs to be sorted out as it has become an unwelcome sideshow in the Hoops’ pursuit of a domestic double.
