Celtic have been linked with a plethora of potential additions with the transfer window now in full swing at Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers will have designs on assembling a squad capable of thriving on both domestic and European fronts, hopefully building on his double-winning success last term.

Goalkeeper is a critical priority for Celtic, with Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka, Sparta Prague stopper Peter Vindahl Jensen, and Lorient’s Yvon Mvogo mentioned as potential successors to Joe Hart.

From a defensive standpoint, Salernitana man Flavius Daniliuc is someone the Bhoys are believed to hold ‘concrete interest’ in.

The Austria international spent the second half of 2023/24 at Red Bull Salzburg, who reportedly have an option to buy the 23-year-old.

Now, it appears the Admiral Bundesliga outfit have made a decision on that front, per a fresh report.

According to TuttoSalernitana, Salzburg have not activated Daniliuc’s option to buy, and he is now set to return to Salernitana. However, they aren’t out of the running, with a swoop for his services on restructured terms not beyond the realm of possibility.

The outlet claim that Celtic remain keen on the defender two years after he joined the Serie B outfit in a deal worth €5 million (£4.2 million). It is believed they want to make a return on that investment in the event of any potential sale.

Per Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old made 27 appearances in all competitions combining his exploits for both clubs across 2023/24, registering three assists in the process.

Undoubtedly, he represents the type of profile that Celtic should be looking to target, given his age, sell-on value and level of pedigree.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the reigning Scottish Premiership champions will firm up their admiration of the Vienna-born man while he is involved at EURO 2024 with Austria.
