Celtic are still looking to sign a left-back on transfer deadline day, however no move is currently close.
That’s the latest update from Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph as we head in to the final hours of the summer window.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has Greg Taylor and Alexandro Bernabei as current options, although it is felt by many supporters that another left-back needs to be signed.
That may be the case before the Friday midnight deadline but it doesn’t seem like any deal is imminent at this stage.
“As things stand, Celtic are not close to securing a LB,” Joseph tweeted late on Thursday night.
“They will remain active to see who may be available – that doesn’t mean they will panic-buy tomorrow, though. But, it’s Deadline Day and things can change very quickly.” (@AnthonyRJoseph on Twitter)

This update may not be pleasing to many Celtic supporters who feel the position is in need of an upgrade. Even the notion of ‘panic-buying’ seems pretty laughable given that the club have had all summer to recruit someone.
When you look around the current Hoops squad, injuries aside, there are not actually too many weak areas. Luis Palma and the soon-to-arrive Paulo Bernardo should both add attacking flair while the likes of Reo Hatate and Cameron Carter-Vickers won’t be out forever.

Goalkeeper and left-back are perhaps the two obvious positions where fresh blood is required. The former never seemed likely to happen despite some early summer talk. However, the latter is definitely a position Celtic should be strengthening.
Let’s hope that happens on Friday. It may be the difference between people judging this window positively or negatively.
