‘Totally useless’ – Celtic target Adam Obert absolutely slaughtered as Cagliari fans make their feelings clear

Celtic are being linked with yet another player.

Although this time, it’s a left-sided defender who can play at both centre-back and full-back. The Hoops need wingers, but it seems they are trying to sign more defensive cover.

The man in question is Adam Obert of Serie A side Cagliari. It was initially reported that Celtic had made a bid for Obert, but ‘failed to reach the right figures to reach an agreement.’

Now, Cagliari fans have been reacting to Celtic’s pursuit of the player – and it’s safe to say a lot of them cannot wait to see the back of the Slovakian.

Cagliari fans want Celtic target Obert to be sold

Italian outlet Calcio Casteddu published an article about Celtic’s interest in Obert, outlining that the Hoops’ bid of €3.5m was rejected.

Cagliari are said to be after at least €6m for the 22-year-old, so it seems Celtic will need to go back and reconsider whether to submit a second proposal.

In the comments section of the piece, Cagliari supporters had plenty to say. In fact, many of them think their club should sell him as quickly as possible.

One fan wrote: “This player is neither fish nor fowl, mediocre at center back and poor at full back. €3.5 million is a godsend…”

Another said: “The clown wants 6/7 million? But is he finally getting better? Do you know how many defenders there are in Serie B/C who are much stronger than Obert? But for 3.5 he should accept with his eyes closed unless he’s not afraid of replacing him with someone who raises the average of the general mediocrity of the squad, God forbid!!”

This supporter posted: “I’ve been saying that Obert does everything reasonably well, but nothing well. As a center back, he always has some lapses in concentration during matches, and they often prove fatal.”

While this was also commented: “Now, this is someone I would give for a million and a bunch of Wieteskas (Cagliari player Mateusz Wieteska), a totally useless player…”

Celtic need to steer clear and focus on wingers

It’s been made quite clear that a number of Cagliari fans do not like Obert and what he offers to the Serie A outfit.

You could argue Celtic need a player who can play at both left-back and centre-back, but it appears they should stay well away from Obert.

The Bhoys shouldn’t return to the negotiating table and instead focus their efforts on a more pertinent issue, which is signing wingers.

The money available needs to be spent on attacking reinforcements, and Brendan Rodgers has stressed that is priority between now and the end of the transfer window.
