Neil Lennon always did have an eye for a player at Celtic.

The Irishman unearthed Victor Wanyama from Beerschot and the big Kenyan is still among Celtic’s most expensive transfer sales of the club’s history.

Wanyama signed for Dunfermline under Lennon this week in what was a shocking and stunning move for the Scottish Championship side who landed a coup in the 33-year-old.

The former £12.5million Southampton and Tottenham star brings a wealth of experience to Scotland’s second tier and the struggling Pars and Lennon was the man behind the move.

Marvin Bartley expects more ‘shock’ Dunfermline signings to join Wanyama

And now Marvin Bartley reckons the former Celtic boss will “shock” people further with more freebie signings he makes for the club as they look to avoid a relegation scrap while ninth in the division.

“It’s a massive signing,” Bartey said on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

“It’s just the experience that he’ll add in there. I’ve watched Dunfermline a couple of times, and they’ve got so many young players that whenever they concede, they just seem to crumble.

“Neil Lennon on the side will be manager, and Victor will be on the pitch trying to do the same thing.

“I don’t think he’ll be the only signing they’ll make as well. By all accounts, I think there’s going to be a couple more going in on free transfers that will shock people.”

Celtic-related options for Lennon to consider at Dunfermline

Wanyama last played in Scotland 12 years ago but he should still be head and shoulders above his opponents in the Championship despite not playing since July 2024.

Dunfermline’s Wanyama announcement video had a brilliant nod to the Hoops and there could be more Celtic-related faces making the move to Fife and East End Park.

Other options Lenny could look towards include Gary Hooper who, at 37, could certainly still do a job in the Championship. He’s playing down the leagues in England and might like one last crack at Scotland.

Johnny Russell has made his money in the MLS and is a free agent while Stefan Johansen is available having left Sarpsborg at the age of 34.
