Celtic striker, Kyogo Furuhashi, is said to be of interest to Man City as the Premier League club looks to replace Julian Alvarez this summer.
Alvarez was sold to Atletico Madrid in an £82m move and it seems that Pep Guardiola has earmarked the Japanese forward to come in and help baulk up the Man City squad.
The Japanese forward has been superb for Celtic and picked up a trio of awards at the end of season 2022/23 after his goalscoring exploits for the club.
But now, according to The Athletic, Kyogo is one of two players who have made a two-man shortlist for Guardiola with the second said to be of a younger age.
The report says City are looking to tie down Ilkay Gundogan to a new deal and once that has been concluded, their attentions will turn to the Celtic striker.
Kyogo’s Man City ‘desire’
Kyogo Furuhashi has been at Celtic for three seasons now and has helped the club lift seven trophies out of nine. But despite that, the report claims that the Japanese striker has a ‘desire’ to join the Premier League champions and has no problem being handed a squad player status.
It is also thought that agreeing personal terms will not be an issue should City press ahead with plans to sign the 29-year-old international striker.
Kyogo has been a huge success at Celtic and has scored 73 goals in 135 appearances. Eight of those have been on the European stage after the Japanese broke his Champions League duck last season with two goals. He has netted six times in the Europa League qualifiers and group stages.
Man City ‘really like’ Kyogo
To get a more in-depth view on the report 67 Hail Hail spoke to the Strategic & Operational Head of Football, HITC & TBR Football, Graeme Bailey, and he said that the Premier League club are a huge fan of the Celtic striker.
Bailey said, “Man City have been watching him since he arrived in Scotland. They like him.
“City’s scouts have been hugely impressed with him, told they love his ability to cope with the physicality of the game but that then not impacting on his ability to show his skills.
“He is one of a few that are on City’s radar but he is very high on their list of options – the injury to Oscar Bobb as well as Alvarez sale is forcing them to look at another attacker/forward.”

This news will come as a crushing blow to the Celtic supporters as Kyogo has been their talisman over the last three years.
Iconic goals against Hibs in the 2021 League Cup final as well as against Rangers over the years have elevated the Japanese forward into hero status for the Celtic fans.
The capture of Adam Idah will provide a safety net for Brendan Rodgers but there is no doubt that the Celtic boss will now need to add another striker should Kyogo decide to move to the cash-rich Premier League club.
