Mikey Johnston’s future at Celtic appears to be nearing its end as Burnley and West Brom battle it out to sign the Republic of Ireland winger.
Johnston enjoyed a storming temporary spell on loan at The Baggies last season as he wowed The Hawthorns crowd with some stunning performances as his seven goals and two assists helped put West Brom into the Premier League play-off places.
However, it seems that his Celtic career is all but over as a report in the Express and Star says Mikey Johnston has agreed on a £3m move to West Brom with a medical set ahead of signing a four-year deal.
Johnston says goodbye to Celtic teammates
The report says that West Brom have been keeping tabs on Johnston throughout the summer and have ‘fought’ Burnley for the Celtic winger after both clubs had £3m bids accepted.
Johnston is said to have agreed terms with West Brom and the Celtic treble-winner has already said goodbye to his teammates last night.
This latest update will undoubtedly upset Sheffield United as they already had a £2.5m fee agreed with Celtic this week for the tricky winger.

But not, it seems, Johnston is set to begin a new chapter in his career and will end his 16-year affiliation with Celtic.
Celtic exit is the right move for Mikey Johnston
For all his potential, Johnston just couldn’t quite make the grade at Celtic. Granted, injury issues affected much of his time at the club but even when fully fit, the Irish international just couldn’t manage to stake a regular claim for first-team football at Celtic Park.
Loan moves to Vitoria Guimaraes and West Brom proved that Johnston has the ability to become a very good first-team player but it seems it just wasn’t meant to be at Celtic.
No doubt much of the Celtic support will wish Johnston all the best when this move goes through and hopefully, he will realise his potential at West Brom and help guide them into the English Premier League this season.
