What ‘sources around’ Man United’s Tyrell Malacia are saying about Celtic transfer rumour

With just over two weeks of the transfer window to go, Brendan Rodgers still has time to add fresh faces to his Celtic squad.

With the UEFA deadline for Celtic to register new players for the Champions League play-off fixture against Kairat now passed, Rodgers can still strengthen the squad further for the domestic campaign.

Many fans will agree that the priority positions for the Hoops boss to strengthen the Celtic first-team squad are on the attacking flanks and up front.

Which is probably why Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof shares why sources around Man United defender Tyrell Malacia are ‘surprised’ about Celtic transfer rumours.

What Man United’s Tyrell Malacia’s camp are saying about Celtic rumours

Tyrell Malacia was first linked to Celtic around six months ago after reports suggested he was on the Parkhead club’s ‘watch list’.

Since then, Celtic have signed Kieran Tierney and Hayato Inamura but it appears that Malacia’s camp may have heard more noises about a possible move to Parkhead.

Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof, who writes for Voetbal International, took to social media channel X and said, “Sources around Tyrell Malacia are surprised by the reports of a transfer to Celtic. The player has (not yet?) heard anything from Scotland.

“For now, there is still the offer from Saudi Arabia, nothing more. The left-back is training at Carrington, Manchester United’s complex.”

Why Man United’s Tyrell Malacia has not heard anything from Celtic

The reason Malacia’s camp have not heard from Celtic is simple. Rodgers doesn’t appear to require another left-back.

With Tierney, Inamura and Liam Scales appearing to slot into that full-back position, it looks like the Celtic boss may well go with this trio for the season ahead.

Whether or not Inamura will be a reliable back-up to Tierney remains up for debate because the Japanese defender has, so far, been left out of Celtic’s last two match-day squads.

If Celtic did make an approach for Malacia, the Man United star’s camp would not be the only people left surprised.
