Manchester United expert reveals all about Celtic’s Kieran Tierney loan transfer alternative Tyrell Malacia

Celtic have this week been linked with a Kieran Tierney left-back alternative this window.

The Hoops hope to add Tierney to their ranks this month after Brendan Rodgers confirmed a pre-contract agreement had been struck.

The former Celt will return to the club either in the summer or before Monday night’s deadline but Arsenal are dragging their heels based on another £30million sale they hope to make.

The Gunners also gambled on Tierney by naming him in their Champions League squad to face Girona unnecessarily and that would have frustrated Rodgers and co. considering Tierney’s lack of minutes this term and any potential injury risks.

The Daily Mail have now named a Manchester United player who is reportedly on Celtic’s shortlist should KT be unavailable this January.

Tyrell Malacia is the man who has emerged as a possible Parkhead loanee should Rodgers be unable to bring in his first choice having allowed Alex Valle to leave for Como.

Malacia could be Celtic January alternative to Kieran Tierney

The publication claims that the Red Devils are open to allowing Malacia to head out on loan after landing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.

A knee injury has thwarted Malacia’s chances at Old Trafford this campaign so far and he has only made eight appearances this campaign.

That included an outing against Rangers in the Europa League which United won 2-1.

Now, United in Focus editor Dan Coombs has filled 67 Hail Hail in on what Malacia offers as a player.

And the expert on the Premier League giant has told where he feels Malacia can thrive if given the chance at Parkhead.

What United in Focus editor said about Celtic target Tyrell Malacia

“He’s a good player, performed very well in first season and was excellent in games against (Manchester) City and Liverpool,” Coombs told 67 Hail Hail.

“He spent time at right-back occasionally too, and Erik Ten Hag liked his ability to drop from left-back into midfield.

“He was out of action for 18 months with knee injury, returned in December, played quite well, but hasn’t quite nailed down starting spot though even with Luke Shaw out.

“Is this because Amorim doesn’t rate him – or because we are taking his injury recovery carefully? That is unclear right now.

“We have now signed Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, and this loan is being framed as Malacia’s opportunity to play regularly, which he needs to after injury, and he won’t get that now at United.

“Quite probably he’s a victim of circumstance with Ten Hag leaving, the manager who signed him.

“There’s still a chance he comes back after loan and competes for a place as Shaw could switch to centre-back in the back three – but most likely loan precedes a summer sale.”
