The 2026 January transfer window is going to be one of the most important in recent memory for Celtic.

After the disappointment of the summer window that saw the Hoops miss out on several targets, which played a contributing factor in Brendan Rodgers’ eventual resignation, things must improve.

Wilfried Nancy has made changes in terms of the formation and requires specialist players to help fit the system.

That means money will need to be spent which could turn Nancy’s fortunes around at Celtic Park, as well as allow the board to show that they do actually care.

So, without further ado, here is everything you need to know about the transfer window.

When does the January 2026 transfer window close in England?

Once again, the transfer window in England will close at a separate time to the one for Scottish clubs.

Premier League clubs will be able to sanction deals up until 7pm GMT on Monday, February 2.

Can Celtic sign players past the January transfer deadline?

Yes, Celtic can sign players when the transfer window closes, so long as they are a free agent.

There is also the chance to get additional time to complete transfers, providing that the relevant paperwork has been completed on time.

What is a deal sheet?

A deal sheet is used so that clubs can be granted additional time to complete transfers in a certain window after the deadline has closed.

The sheet cannot be used until two hours before the deadline and must arrive complete before the 11pm deadline.

Teams then have an extra two hours to finalise the transfer to submit the relevant paperwork.
