Celtic have announced that the final title-deciding fixture against Hearts will be switched to Celtic Park this Sunday.

The game was already scheduled to play at the Excelsior Stadium but now, backed and sponsored by Adidas, the club have announced that they are looking for a repeat of the record crowd that urged Fran Alonso’s side to a 3-1 win over Glasgow City last Thursday night.

The club released a statement [Celtic FC] this afternoon saying, “As the SWPL title race comes down to the wire, we are delighted to announce Celtic FC Women’s final match of the season will now take place at Celtic Park on Sunday, May 21 (KO 16:10).

“Last Thursday, Celtic overcame league leaders Glasgow City in front of a record crowd of 9,553 and now as Paradise will again host our women’s team, we have the chance once again to create new records and reach new heights.”

And almost immediately The North Curve issued a tweet asking fans to come along and join them in ‘The Celtic End’. Sections 137, 138 and 141, 142 have been designated for the new fan area.

Fans that have already purchased tickets for the Excelsior Stadium will be contacted directly by the club.

Celtic need to win against Hearts and hope that Glasgow City and Rangers both draw to guarantee that the Ghirls bring the title home for the first time in their history.

However, Celtic can afford Rangers to win, but then that would mean Fran Alonso’s side would need to rack up the goals against Hearts and hope that Rangers win by only one clear goal to pip their rivals to the title on goal difference.

As it stands, Glasgow City are on 80 points with Celtic and Rangers tied on 78 points. With Rangers holding a one-goal advantage on goal difference, it really cannot get any tighter at the top.

We all saw what a record crowd can do to help spur on the Celtic side so we will be hoping for a repeat or better on Sunday.

The game will be televised live on BBC Sport Scotland.
