Celtic Women are heading off to their preseason training camp in Gran Canaria as Fran Alonso prepares his side for the new season ahead.
The Women’s team signed off a dramatic season with a Scottish Cup win against Rangers at the end of last season. Of course, Fran Alonso’s side lost out on the league in tense final-day drama where despite defeating Hearts 2-0 at Celtic Park, a late Glasgow City winner at Ibrox meant it was league heartache for the Ghirls.
But now, in an attempt to get the Ghirls ready and kick on for next season, the warm weather camp awaits in the Canary Islands where Celtic will take part in the Cordial Women’s Football International Tournament in conjunction with beCordial Hotels. [Celtic FC]

Alonso’s team will face local team, Femarguin on the 3rd of August in a 6pm kick-off before taking on Tenerife two days later with a 4pm kick-off. Both friendlies will take place at the Estadio Municipal de Arguineguin.
Assistant manager, David Haley is looking forward to the trip and reckons that it will provide the perfect preparation for the season ahead.
Haley said, “We’re all looking forward to getting back out to Gran Canaria and are especially excited to be able to have games out there again.
“For those who have been there before it’s nice to return to familiar surroundings and it’ll be great to let our new signings get to know it as well.
“It’ll be intense with the matches out there but it will hopefully serve as great preparation for not only the league ahead but also the Champions League in September.”
