Michael Nicholson has sent a message to former Celtic Women’s manager Elena Sadiku.

Sadiku left Celtic this week to join BK Hacken after a successful two-year spell as the Women’s head coach.

Rumours first broke of Sadiku’s impending Celtic exit just over 24 hours ago after journalist Alisson McConnell revealed that BK Hacken were in the race for her signature.

Have Celtic made a mistake letting Elena Sadiku leave? Let us know in the comments below.

Celtic moved swiftly to replace the Swede with the appointment of Hibs Women’s boss Grant Scott and CEO Michael Nicholson has sent the departing Sadiku a message for her service to the club.

Michael Nicholson thanks Elena Sadiku for her ‘historic contribution’ to Celtic

Sadiku won Celtic Women’s first-ever league title in 2024 and led the club into the Champions League for the first time ever.

And Nicholson paid tribute to the Swede for helping create more history at the club.

Nicholson told Celtic’s official website, “Everyone at Celtic would like to thank Elena for her historic contribution during a hugely successful period as Head Coach of our women’s team, creating history by winning the club’s first-ever Scottish Women’s Premier League title and reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage for the first time.

“We would like to wish Elena all the best in her next chapter and all her future endeavours.”

Celtic CEO welcomes proven winner Grant Scott

Celtic hired Hibs boss Grant Scott as Sadiku’s replacement after he won the Edinburgh side their first title in 18 years last season.

And the Celtic CEO welcomed him to the club citing his ‘strong track record’ of achieving results in the game.

Nicholson continued, “We are now pleased to welcome Grant Scott to Celtic as Head Coach of our women’s team.

“Grant brings a strong track record in Scottish women’s football, with proven experience of leading competitive teams and delivering success, most recently guiding Hibernian to their first league title in 18 years last season.

“We believe he is the right person to lead an important next phase of women’s football at Celtic, building on our investment in the new Barrowfield Training Centre to develop high-quality young Scottish players through to the first team. We look forward to welcoming Grant to the club.”

Hopefully, Scott can replicate or even exceed the success that both Sadiku and Fran Alonso achieved to help further raise the profile of the Women’s game at Celtic and in Scotland.
