Celtic’s home ground is the largest football stadium in Scotland, bar none.
Celtic Park’s 60,000 capacity is the home to over 52,000 season ticket holders and offers the Parkhead club a huge financial positive over all of their rivals.
The two huge benefits Paradise already offers Celtic regarding crowd size and finances, why would the Parkhead club entertain any ideas of using or sharing another stadium?
Well, the SFA have plans for Lesser Hampden and they want the Celtic and Rangers Women’s team to get involved in it.

The SFA want Celtic and Rangers Women’s teams to use Lesser Hampden
Celtic Women currently play all their home games at Hamilton’s New Douglas Park. However, the SFA want to change all that with a big proposal to the all three Glasgow Women’s teams.
The Herald reports, “The Scottish FA are exploring plans to turn Lesser Hampden into a shared stadium for Celtic, Rangers and Glasgow City’s women’s teams.
“Championship side Queen’s Park have now been asked to consider selling the City Stadium in order to create shared 4G facility, projected to eventually hold between 3000 and 5000 spectators.
“And the venue has now been earmarked as a potential opportunity for Celtic, Rangers and Glasgow City to increase attendances and improve the supporter experience by creating a bespoke hub venue capable of hosting double-bill fixtures on the same day.”
Having the biggest three women’s teams in the country groundshare in a centralised location in Glasgow does make a lot of sense.
It could help generate more excitement around the women’s game considering it’s generally these three sides that battle for the title.
How Celtic Women’s season in the SWPL is going
Elena Sadiku recently highlighted issues with investment in the Celtic Women’s team and that is very evident considering their current placement in the SWPL.
Celtic currently sit fourth in the league, seven points behind leaders Glasgow City, with Hearts second and Rangers third.
With three defeats in eight games, Sadiku has a bit of work to do to get Celtic’s season back on track and challenge for top spot.
With plenty of games to go, all is not lost, but three defeats in eight show that Celtic are struggling and the chances of competing for the title this season are slim.
