The loss of Celtic’s youngsters to teams in England and abroad looks set to continue as young academy striker Filip Skorb attracts attention this week.

Skorb joined Celtic in May 2023 and is yet to make a senior first-team appearance for the club.

However, that has not put off other teams from courting the Polish U19 international and Skorb could be the next Celtic Academy starlet to make his Lennoxtown exit.

What’s the point of Celtic’s Academy?

Should Celtic just give it up as the club seem incapable of making the Academy work.

Lecce ‘close’ to deal to sign Celtic youngster Filip Skorb

The Daily Record reports that Serie A side Lecce are close to signing Skorb, but they are not the only team looking at the Celtic youngster.

Austrian side Sturm Graz are also keen on the 18-year-old and are looking to strengthen their side for the Champions League qualifier against Hearts.

However, the report indicates that Lecce are ‘front-runners’ to land Skorb as Celtic look set to lose yet another talent from their Academy this summer.

Filip Skorb’s route through the Celtic Academy

Skorb joined Celtic from Portobello FC at the age of 15 after reportedly attracting interest from Rangers, Newcastle United and Leeds United.

Skorb initially represented Scotland at under-16 level before switching to Poland’s youth setup. He has since progressed to Poland under-19 level.

Skorb’s departure would not affect Martin O’Neill’s immediate first-team plans, but Celtic will still be reluctant to watch another young prospect continue his development elsewhere.

A move from the Lowland League to a Serie A setup would also make the striker’s progress difficult to ignore.
