Wilfried Nancy’s potential appointment as the next Celtic manager is driving excitement across much of the Hoops fan base.

Every time we read or hear something about Nancy, it looks like Celtic are getting a dynamic, young and attack-minded manager.

The Frenchman is very highly-rated in the MLS and Celtic-bound Nancy has won two trophies, both at Montreal and at his current club Columbus Crew.

But it seems that it’s not just the Celtic first team who should be excited about Nancy and an MLS pundit sends a brilliant verdict that will excite those at the Academy.

Celtic told Wilfried Nancy has a ‘brilliant mind’

MLS expert Taylor Twellman appeared excited at the prospect of Nancy taking on Celtic as he sent the club a superb message about the incoming boss.

Twellman told It’s Called Soccer, “Good on him. I have a lot of respect for managers around the world that work on their craft and he is someone that started at the university level in Canada came over.

“He was part of Thierry Henry’s group with the Montreal franchise in Major League Soccer. Then COVID happened.

“He’s a brilliant mind. He’s someone that I’ve admired from afar and had the luxury of getting to know him.”

Taylor Twellman delivers the ‘biggest compliment’ he can to Celtic about Nancy

And as for Nancy’s coaching and managerial style, Twellman’s verdict will excite the fans, as well as the Celtic Academy as the pundit shares how the incoming Hoops boss likes to develop young talent,

Twellman continued, “Celtic have got themselves a real manager in the essence of he’s very progressive. Uh, but the best compliment I can give Wilfried Nancy is this.

Columbus Crew General Manager on Wilfried Nancy to Celtic

I was told that there was a report that said we gave permission to Celtic but in order to get permission, you have to ask. We haven’t had anything from that particular club.

“In Major League Soccer, when you’ve got to build your rosters in a salary cap type of structure, the best managers are the ones that coach each player up five, seven, 10%. You don’t have the luxury of having 20 full internationals within your roster the way you do in England and Germany and these other leagues.

“And so Wilfried Nancy has coached Max Arfsten, a kid that came out of college, a kid that San Jose didn’t want as an academy player that moved to Columbus that now is on the verge of playing into the World Cup. That is an example of what he’s done.

“Celtic fans, and I’ve seen some of the stuff on the boards, but Rebecca, he is going to make them much more attractive to watch.

“And he’s got goals. He’s got personal goals and I think this will be another step into him doing some bigger and better things.”

Nancy is expected to be named as the new Celtic manager in the coming week and by all accounts, he sounds like the sort of leadership the club needs.

After the shambolic AGM, Celtic supporters need a positive influence inside the club and if Nancy can deliver success and strive to develop the youngsters, that could help bridge the chasm that has opened up between the support and the board.
