That was much needed from Celtic and for Brendan Rodgers.

In a strange turn of events, before the game against Aberdeen on Tuesday night, the champions had only one win to their game in their last four matches, including that poor showing at Easter Road.

But, in next to no time, normal service resumed when Celtic beat Aberdeen 5-1 and edged closer to the title.

Arne Engels recorded two assists and was deemed Man of the Match, with Daizen Maeda doing what he has been doing all season long and that’s scoring again (a brace).

Jota also scored again following his return to Glasgow in January, captain Callum McGregor continued his fine goalscoring form and even Hyunjun Yang added his name to the scoresheet.

And one man is certainly impressing Celtic’s club-record transfer, Engels.

Arne Engels labels Jota a ‘great player’ after Celtic thrash Aberdeen

Kyogo Furuhashi’s exit in January didn’t help Celtic and things were made far worse when the powers that be at Celtic Park didn’t replace him.

But the return of Jota certainly lifted the mood because he has picked up from where he left off under Ange Postecoglou.

Engels explained what the all-action Portuguese star is showing ‘every day’ in the colours of Celtic, as he told Sky Sports Football.

“It’s always really nice to play with great players and he is doing really well,” said Engels.

“He is showing it every day and every week. I am really happy that he is here.”

Jota’s incredible return for Celtic

It needs to be remembered that Jota has hardly played this season, so you wouldn’t blame him if he needs to dust off some cobwebs.

But they are nowhere to be seen because he looks and is playing like his old self.

This is a great sign for Celtic as they push for the Treble – something Jota is all too familiar with.

But, you probably won’t see the player go to the next level until next season when Rodgers has worked with him a little longer.
